In today's episode, David Moulton and I discuss Championship Saturday in college football. This week will be the final chance for teams to make the College Football Playoff, which will be decided Sunday after the conference championships are finished. First, we discuss the SEC Championship Game between LSU and Georgia in Atlanta. Heading into this game, Georgia is 12-0 and looking like college football's best team for a second straight year. LSU is 9-3 off a loss in College Station. Does this year's Georgia team compare with last year's national championship squad? Do Jayden Daniels and LSU have a chance of making this game close, or is LSU not quite ready for the Bulldogs? Heading into Friday's Pac-12 Championship game between Utah and USC, we discuss how Lincoln Riley has turned the Trojans within one game of being California's first team in the CFP. Can Caleb Williams finish off his Heisman-worthy season with another fantastic performance against a well-coached Utes team, which beat USC in Salt Lake earlier this season in Salt Lake City. Onto Arlington, where Kansas State and TCU will meet for the Big-12 Championship. A win would make TCU the first Texas team in the CFP. David reminds me of when TCU was No. 3 heading into 2014's final game. Despite winning, TCU missed the CFP, while Ohio State jumped over TCU and Baylor before beating Bama and Oregon on route to winning the first CFP. For TCU and USC, a loss would create potential drama if Ohio State could vault them in the final CFP rankings. Then, we are off to discuss Purdue and Michigan in the Big Ten Championship. After dominating Ohio State in Columbus, the Wolverines find themselves one win from back-to-back CFP appearances. J.J. McCarhy outplayed potential No. 1 pick C.J. Stroud with 263 yards and three long touchdown passes in Michigan's 45-23 win. Can Michigan also compete against Georgia, which beat them in last year's Orange Bowl? Finally, we discuss whether Hugh Freeze, Matt Rhule, and Luke Fickell will have immediate success at Auburn, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
