Alex Winning his Guillotine League/ Lions First Win/BAL/PIT Recap/ NFL Power Rankings
In this episode, Alex and I talk about Alex winning his Guillotine League, the Vikings-Lions, Ravens-Steelers, and NFL Power Rankings. First, we talk about the Guillotine league Alex won. Alex explains how this league worked. Unlike most leagues, there were no head-to-heads. Every week, the lowest-scoring team was eliminated, and those players were put on waivers. The remaining teams received $150 to spend on free agents and waivers. Coming into Monday Night Football, Alex trailed by just over four points, but Patriots kicker Nick Folk was the last player remaining on either team. With high winds in Buffalo, kicking was a potential problem. When NE scored its first touchdown, Alex was hoping for a point from Folk. Instead, NE went for two, which was successfully converted. Luckily, two field goals helped Alex win his league - earning him $350. Alex also explains how he would run his team next year. Then, we talk about the Detroit Lions getting their first win on a game-ending touchdown ion a 29-27 win over the Minnesota Vikings. We talk about Detroit finally getting a win after so many near misses. The conversation then changes on what Mike Zimmer and the Vikings were doing on the last play in Detroit. We then debate another incredible game in the long-lasting rivalry between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. We look at how well Ben Roethlisberger played after announcing a likely retirement after this season. We also agree that the Ravens were correct in going for the win after scoring a late touchdown in the dying seconds. We end this episode by giving our NFL Power Rankings. Alex and I agree until the the last two teams where we flip the Green Bay Packers and Cardinals.
